Moon Over Matakatia

The calm image belies the race to get it as I was caught between a rapidly advancing tide and a cliff. Having to choose between getting the shot and my own safety, the former is usually the winner. I picked the Canon 77D for this photo to take advantage of the crop sensor and had to composite two image - one at 3.2s and the other at 1/60th to get the foreground and details on the moon surface. — Hibiscus Coast Collection

Getting this composition was challenging as there was very little light, a great deal of wind, it was raining and I was standing waist-deep in the cold water. I am an Auckland based photographer whose work has been described as 'colourful' and 'reasonably good' by the Ladies Auxiliary Club of the Gulf Harbour Retirement Community. To date, I have had tens of images published on Flickr and caused quite a stir when one of my images won a prestigious Explore award.
